Yu Kitazawa was born in 1988 in Nagano, Japan. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2012 under supervision of Professor Yasuyuki Tezuka studying polymer chemistry. He received his Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2014 and Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2017 from the University of Tokyo under supervision of Professor Masanobu Uchiyama. His graduate work was organic chemistry focusing on boron cluster by a combination of computational chemistry and spectroscopic analysis. Following his research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tokyo, he was a JSPS Overseas Research Fellowships at IOCB in Czech Republic with Professor Josef Michl where he continued his research of boron cluster. He is an Associate Professor of Research Initiative for Supra-Materials (RISM) in Interdisciplinary Cluster for Cutting Edge Research (ICCER) from 2019.
His research is targeted toward developing new molecule based on boron cluster in the direction of novel catalyst, electro/optical material and pharmacotherapy.
